Sports Director/Campus Life Worker

FULL-TIME March, 2025

Description

Are you passionate about serving today's youth? Do you desire to use your sports skills in relationship building and program facilitation? The Portage Campus Life worker’s primary objective is to meet the needs of the youth in the community of Portage by helping to run relevant sports programs and inviting others into the journey through partnership. This position will provide support for youth, families, schools and communities.
 
This full-time position reports to the Portage staff supervisor.
 

DIRECT MINISTRY

1.      Plan and facilitate programs and faith based activities for youth.
2.      Create and run a sports-based ministries (ex. Floor hockey, basketball, volleyball, soccer, summer sports camps, potentially assist with school sports teams, etc.)
3.      Work in partnership with area Youth Workers, Youth Ministries, and other like-minded partners to reach our evangelism and outreach goals, including challenging and equipping Christian youth to reach out to their peers.
4.      One-on-one meetings with youth with genuine care for the whole person to introduce them to, and disciple them through, life with Christ.
5.      Connect with and strive to network with principals, teachers, and resource agencies in the area whenever possible.
6.      Share God talks during program times
 

SPIRITUAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

1.      Is a faithful and contributing member of a local church.
2.      Pray for and with both the local and YFC Canada Team.
3.      Spend time in spiritual reflection and development.
4.      Completion of the YFC Canada Credentialing process within 2 years of start date.
5.      Attend YFC Regional retreat yearly. Attend National conference whenever possible.
6.      Participate in training and development courses, conferences and workshops as approved by supervisor.
 

PROGRAMS/VOLUNTEERS

1.      Engage and build relationships with youth in the community through School ministries, one-on-ones, mentoring and special events.
2.      Develop, train, and supervise a volunteer base to assist with program delivery.
3.      Run daily/weekly sports events after school.
4.      Be actively working to create and maintain partnerships with local schools in the Portage area.
5.      Invest in the health and resiliency of youth through the sharing of the gospel.
 

ORGANIZATION/ADMINISTRATIVE

1.      Meet regularly with their supervisor.
2.      Keep records of Ministry activities and events.
3.      Attend monthly YFC meetings.
4.      Help create and maintain social media content.
 

PERSONAL PARTNER DEVELOPMENT

1.      Personal partnership development - which includes securing and maintaining a sound base of financial & prayer partners to a level sufficient to fund the salary and immediate costs of this position.
2.      Establish a Ministry Partner Development Plan and keeping regular contact with ministry partners through a news/prayer letter, visits, phone calls, etc.

Compensation

$30,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
